CAVA JFF
CAVA JFF
$65.00
Our Catalan Cava is a fine wine indeed. A minimalist tire for those who want the free speed of a high volume slick but need a tire that is more predictable in loose corners.
-3D diamond file tread massages granular terrain for perceivably 20-30% more traction than a slick
-Continuous center negative dark space aeronautic deltas for pure intoxicating SPEED
-Slightly higher volume than the ROSé, giving it the same effective outside diameter, leaving geometry unchanged when pairing with ROSé up front.
-Less susceptible to tread slashes than a true slick
-Zero sidewall protection and no puncture protection on top for premium terrain massaging ride quality. If you are an aggressive rider who punctures often, don't buy these. Consider our Robusto
-JFF means Just For Fun, but not only for fun- these tires are equally equipped for long days locked in the pain dungeon as they are for a Sunday tour of Portland's vegan doughnut shoppes.
-Tubeless compatible
-Tires packaged in nice, FSC, recyclable cardboard and sold individually
-27.5 x 2.2??: 585g, 26 x 2.2??: 560g, 650b x 47.99: 505g, 700c x 42.??: 470g and 700c x 39.??: 365g

***700c x 39.??***
We designed this tire to be a large volume ROAD tire suitable for light, groomer dirt roads, but at this low a volume we don't really think of it as a gravel tire. Can it be run as a gravel tire, sure, but choose your line with extra care and stick to the smooth stuff- it's 335g...
The sizing is sorta funny, it is badged a 700c x 39, but on most modern rims it's been measuring a little smaller upon initial mounting, more like a 37-38mm then after some use these stretch out to almost a 39mm width. On more traditional, narrower rims they will measure smaller... closer to 37mm.
***700c x 33.??***
This is our take on a ROAD specific classics race tire- thin, light and extremely fast. Designed to be right at home on the little gravel connectors and cobblestone farm roads you find in Flanders, but not on the 200 miles of rugged flint gravel chunk in Kansas. It is a ROAD tire, not a cyclocross tire, and not a gravel tire. If you want a gravel tire we make some of those. They're bigger.
-TLC (TLR / Tubeless) and Hookless Compatible (must verify size and pressure compatibility with your rims: 15-25mm inner width rim only). MAX Tubeless pressure of 60psi and remember most floor pump gauges are inaccurate so err on the lower side. If you want to run it at higher pressures the tire must be tubed, and we recommend a latex tube for optimal speed and sensations. If you're here you understand low pressure = more speed, comfort and grip.
-While it is fine to run this tire set up tubeless as specified above, we recommend running tire liners such as Vittoria's Air Liners if you do so, otherwise, run it like we do with latex tubes- it's really the ideal setup for this narrow of a tire.

RACE: Our lightest, fastest casing with zero sidewall protection
JFF: An intermediate option. Still an unprotected lighweight casing, but more durable than our RACE due to thicker casing cords.
ROBUSTO: Our take on a protected tire - fast rolling and nimble but with weep-free, protected sidewalls to help prevent slashes.

Designed to be inflated/deflated to tastefully low pressures: 20-30 psi (26 and 27.5 x 2.1??), 25-35psi (650b x 47.99), 30-40psi (700c x 42.??), 38-45psi (700c x 39.??), 50-55psi (700c x 33.??).
The CAVA was our second tread design after the ROSé and we designed them to work well together with the CAVA as a rear.
Once we released the MARS tread it was only a matter of time before we envisioned a larger volume CAVA to pair as a rear.
All of these configurations work well, the only one we'd avoid is combining the CAVA 700c x 39.?? as a rear with a 700c x 42.?? since our intention with the 39.?? was to produce a higher volume road tire rather than a gravel tire like our 42.??.
